West Point Douglas Road, between Belden Boulevard and the Youth Service Bureau. A full road closure will be in place through early September 2021. Sites will remain accessible.

Belden Boulevard, between Hadley/Hastings and Grenadier avenues. A shoulder closure will occur to stage natural gas line and equipment. Sites will remain accessible.

Hadley/Hastings Avenue, between Scott and Belden boulevards. Shifting lanes and street parking restrictions may occur. Sites will remain accessible.

Intersection of Hadley/Hastings Avenue and Belden Boulevard. The road will be fully closed for one day during the week of Aug. 23, 2021. Through traffic should follow posted detours. Local traffic will be allowed, and sites will remain accessible.

West Point Douglas Road, between Belden Boulevard and the Youth Service Bureau. A full road closure will be in place for three weeks for natural gas line installation. Sites will remain accessible.

Hadley Avenue/Hastings Avenue, between Scott and Belden boulevards. Natural gas line installation will occur. Street parking may be restricted. Sites will remain accessible.

Crews have installed more than 60 percent of this year’s natural gas line. We will continue to share progress with you during the project.

During the week of Aug. 2, 2021, crews will work in the following areas:

West Point Douglas Road, between Jamaica and Irwin avenues. Shifting lanes on West Point Douglas Road will occur for equipment staging and natural gas line installation. No traffic impacts will occur to Jamaica Avenue. Local traffic will be allowed, and sites will remain accessible.

West Point Douglas Road, between Belden Boulevard and Extra Space Storage. Shifting lanes will occur for natural gas line installation and restoration of previous work areas. Local traffic will be allowed, and sites will remain accessible.

West Point Douglas Road, between Belden Boulevard and the South Washington Public Schools Transportation Department. Shifting lanes will occur for natural gas line installation and restoration of previous work areas. Local traffic will be allowed, and sites will remain accessible.

Between Highway 61/Highway 10 and the railroad tracks north of the intersection of West Point Douglas Road and Belden Boulevard. Crews have staged a natural gas line for installation in this area this summer. There may be some temporary traffic impacts as crews work in this area.

East Point Douglas Road, between East Point Douglas Road and Hillside Trail. Shifting lanes will occur for natural gas line installation. Local traffic will be allowed, and sites will remain accessible.

90th Street, between East Point Douglas Road and Indahl Avenue. Shifting lanes will occur for the marking of utility lines and “potholing” to verify their locations. We will stage natural gas line ahead of installation. Local traffic will be allowed, and sites will remain accessible.

  • Do not enter work areas.
  • Follow all construction signage and direction from crews.

  • Be aware! Traffic control measures change regularly.
  • Refrain from using your cell phone while driving.

  • Highway 61/Highway 10, between Jamaica Avenue and halfway between the Jamaica and Keats avenues exits. Short-term shoulder closures and shifting lanes will occur for crews to install concrete barriers along the southbound shoulder of Highway 61/Highway 10. The barriers will separate crews working on West Point Douglas Road from highway traffic.

Xcel Energy will replace 5.5 miles of natural gas line near Highway 10/Highway 61 in Cottage Grove and St. Paul Park. The South Washington Natural Gas Project will connect to aboveground regulator stations which regulate natural gas pressure.

Construction will begin this spring and continue through fall 2022. During 2021, we expect to work in the following areas:

  • West Point Douglas Road
  • East Point Douglas Road
  • Belden Boulevard
  • Hastings Avenue
